Donald Trump Jr.'s X Account Hacked, Spokesperson Confirms False Claims

Donald Trump Jr.’s account on X, formerly known as Twitter, was compromised, leading to false posts about his father and other bizarre claims. X has yet to comment on the high-profile security breach.

Donald Trump Jr.'s X Account Hacked

In a shocking turn of events, Donald Trump Jr.'s account on X (previously known as Twitter) was hacked on Wednesday morning. The account falsely claimed that former President Donald Trump had died.

The false posts did not end there. Other strange messages posted during the security breach included warnings about North Korea and criticisms against the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The account was under unauthorized control for about 30 minutes before the posts were removed.

At the time of writing, it remains unclear if X's team removed the posts or if Trump Jr.'s team regained access and took them down themselves. X has not yet responded to media inquiries about the incident. The platform's existing safety and security help page for compromised accounts appears to have been removed.

This high-profile security incident follows another in December 2022 when the contact information of millions of X users was allegedly breached. It also occurs three years after other notable figures, including Elon Musk and Joe Biden, had their Twitter accounts compromised.

It's worth remembering that former President Donald Trump's Twitter account was also hacked in 2020 by a security researcher. Dutch officials confirmed the incident but declined to prosecute the individual involved, citing their good-faith intent.

The hacking of Trump Jr.’s account adds to the growing list of security concerns that X has yet to adequately address. Even after Elon Musk took over the platform in October 2022, these issues continue to plague the social media giant.

This incident underlines the serious and ongoing security challenges that platforms like X face, particularly for high-profile users. It remains to be seen how X will respond and what measures it will take to prevent similar incidents in the future.

For now, all eyes are on X as both the public and tech communities wait for an official response. With a high-profile account like Donald Trump Jr.'s being compromised, the pressure is mounting on X to tighten its security measures.
