Creative agency network GUT has announced the appointment of Sandra Alfaro as its first U.S. CEO. Alfaro will oversee the daily operations of GUT’s Miami headquarters and its Los Angeles office, effective from September 5th.

Alfaro's responsibilities will include working closely with the global leadership team, along with Ricardo Casal and Juan Javier Peña Plaza, the North American CCOs & Partners, Bruno Acanfora and Ariel Abramovici, ECDs at GUT LA, and Carmen Rodriguez, Global Chief Growth Officer & Partner. Alfaro's appointment is geared towards ensuring that GUT’s U.S. clients continue to execute innovative and successful work. She will report to GUT’s Global CEO Andrea Diquez from her Miami base.

With over 25 years of advertising and marketing experience, Alfaro previously served as the President of DDB Chicago. Here, she helped launch the agency's first dedicated social practice and played a key role in new business. She also led 305 Worldwide, a culture-first creative agency, at Horizon Media and managed Grey Wing for five years, landing major clients including Pfizer, Papa John’s, Lilly, and Nestle.

Alfaro expressed her excitement about joining GUT, stating her desire to inspire the U.S. team to continue delivering bold work. She highlighted her passion for growth, her philosophy as a servant leader, and her focus on helping teams thrive and reach their maximum potential.

Her extensive experience in account management covers major categories including Retail, Automotive, CPG, Beer, Pharma, Non-Alcoholic Beverages, Apparel/Fashion, and Beauty, with clients like The Home Depot, Nissan, Heineken, Stouffer’s, Old Navy, and many others.

Her appointment follows GUT Network’s successful year at Cannes Lions, where the network won 35 Lions, including 3 Grand Prix, 8 Golds, 12 Silvers, and 12 Bronzes. The network was named Cannes Lions’ Independent Network of the Year, LATAM Regional Network of the Year, and its GUT Buenos Aires office received the honors of Independent Agency of the Year and Agency of the Year – a first for Argentina.

Alfaro earned her MBA in Marketing and Management from NYU’s Stern School of Business and her BSBA in International Business from The American University. She started her career at Saatchi & Saatchi, later joining The Vidal Partnership (TVP) and building a best-in-class Account Management department. She was recognized by Ad Age in its Women to Watch list in 2005, becoming the youngest recipient of that honor at the time.
