Specsavers has teamed up with the renowned football manager, Harry Redknapp, for an uplifting mission—to guide one of the UK’s struggling grassroots football teams toward success. The ‘Best Worst Team’ initiative, an integral part of Specsavers’ commitment to celebrating human moments, aims to spotlight and support underfunded areas of culture, especially in sports like grassroots football that heavily rely on keen eyesight and sharp hearing.
Cwm Albion, based in Swansea, becomes the focal point of this inspiring journey, receiving hands-on coaching from former Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp. Lisa Hale, Specsavers' head of consumer PR, social media & brand activation, highlighted the brand’s commitment, stating, “We're thrilled to have Harry Redknapp as the team’s coach, bringing unparalleled experience to transform the underperforming team into potential winners. Collaborating with influencers Chunkz and Elz the Witch will help us connect with diverse audiences and share this incredible journey.”
Crafted by Tangerine, orchestrated by Golin and Freshwater, and narrated by former England star Jill Scott OBE, the series promises an engaging and intimate look at Cwm Albion's transformation. Tangerine's creative director, Martin Kevill, emphasized the heartwarming narrative, saying, “We've built a strong connection with football fans online, and this year, we're thrilled to share a moving grassroots story with Cwm Albion. It’s more than a ‘Should’ve Gone to Specsavers’ message; it’s a celebration of a century-old football club's community spirit. Working with Harry, Jill, and the team promises a memorable experience for Cwm Albion and its supporters."
