TikTok's 'Series' Expansion: More Opportunities for Creators to Monetize Content

TikTok is expanding its 'Series' subscription feature, providing more creators with the opportunity to monetize their content through long-form video collections behind a paywall.

TikTok is expanding the scope of content monetization by making its 'Series' subscription feature available to a broader range of creators. This expansion allows creators to put certain content collections behind a paywall. With this feature, eligible creators can include up to 80 videos, each lasting 20 minutes, in each Series set, effectively enabling long-form content subscriptions within the app.

The feature's flexible pricing model allows creators to charge between $1 to $190 for their Series subscriptions. Initially limited to a select group of creators, TikTok has now clarified eligibility criteria. As of June 6, 2023, creators over 18 with more than 10,000 followers can activate the feature (subject to regional availability).

This expansion is part of TikTok's ongoing effort to develop effective monetization models for its stars. While TikTok continues to be a popular platform, it is crucial for the app to offer appealing monetization options to retain its top creators, who might otherwise migrate to platforms with better revenue potentials such as YouTube and Instagram.

TikTok's 'Series' expansion might be a crucial step towards addressing this challenge. By facilitating long-form content sharing, TikTok offers creators more opportunities to broaden their audience reach and monetize their content. This initiative is another step towards enhancing TikTok's appeal among creators.
