OpenAI has officially launched its ChatGPT app for Android users in a few countries, including the U.S., India, Bangladesh, and Brazil. This release comes shortly after the company set up a preorder page on Google Play for the app.
For those residing in countries not included in the initial release, preordering on Google Play is still an option, as OpenAI plans to expand the app's availability to more countries shortly, with more additions planned over the next week.

The release marks a significant milestone for OpenAI, especially considering that Android users constitute a larger global market share than iOS users. It's worth noting that iPhone users may already have access to the official ChatGPT app, as it has been available on iOS for some time.
Those familiar with the web version of ChatGPT can expect similar results from the mobile app, with an interface specifically optimized for mobile use. Interaction with ChatGPT is akin to messaging a friend, with users typing their text at the bottom of the screen and awaiting ChatGPT's responses, which range from advice to tips based on user needs.
The mobile app syncs with existing OpenAI accounts, allowing users to access their past conversations across all devices, provided the "chat history & training" feature is enabled. Disabling this feature also removes chat history.
OpenAI also provides an optional subscription for enhanced features and access to a more advanced large language model (GPT-4). ChatGPT Plus, accessible on Android through an in-app purchase, is included in this subscription. Existing subscribers should be able to access ChatGPT Plus features on Android with their current subscription.
